Cubic Collection 00009

Texture is one of the more immediate components that viewers respond to in any artistic piece.

In this work the patina has been designed and painted digitally in Photoshop from A to Z. In traditional paintings (i.e. a physical painting) texture also represents the look and feel of the canvas which is also in coordination with the paint, its application, or any additional materials such as; ribbon, metal, wood, lace, leather and or sand.

Texture is defined as a physical composition of something, a texture stimulates senses of sight and touch, the feeling of smoothness, roughness, fuzziness, and lots of other feelings (i.e. textures) in between.

In digital arts you use tools, software and facilities or benefit from photos and other digital materials to create textures and objects such as wood, stone, fabric, and etc. And to simulate the real brush-print there are many adjustments inside the software like Photoshop.

Photography is a medium through which artist’s capture an artistically complete real-life moment and because of all the elements that construct the correct composition lighting and etc. it is defined as an art piece. Likewise in digital-art, computer acts as a medium through which an artist can express his/her vision of line, form, color, composition and rhythm.

An artist chooses their apparatus (i.e. oil, watercolor, or pixels) that they want to use, and in digital there will be pen-pressure, scattering, texture brush, transfer, dual brush, visual effect brushes, and other tools that are used. For example you can refer to creating vintage objects and making stuff look old as a digital patina.

Here you can see the base of the statue which as I said is painted only with brushes, and same technique has also been used on the other elements like the boat and the ropes that look rather rusty and have discernible textures. In order for this style to be done pleasantly first and foremost one must be familiar with the features of each texture.

The special arrangement of colors or intensity in texture and in visual content of an image in general is also crucial to be able to paint an aged surface, or an appearance of a subject matured beautifully which will be illustrated wit the use of patina.
